The opening of this Army Aviation Support Facility ushered in a new era of Nebraska Army National Guard aviation. This project encompasses five National Guard Aviation units and was designed to house six CH-47 Chinook helicopters and four smaller OH-58 Kiowa helicopters. The facility was environmentally controlled using a geothermal HVAC system.
The Army Aviation Support Facility located in Grand Island, Nebraska consists of three buildings for a total of 100,000 SF. This project was constructed on a 50 acre site that supports inspections, maintenance, repair, and servicing of authorized rotary winged aircraft.
