The Axtell community proudly unveiled their new fire station, which has taken approximately five years of planning, donations, and the passing of a bond issue. In the past, the Axtell Fire Department was storing their trucks in various locations; however, this new facility offers ample storage and accessibility.
Axtell Fire Station is a 14,000 SF facility which includes 3,500 SF of finished offices, meeting area, and a fully furnished kitchen space and a 10,500 SF apparatus bay. Above the office and meeting areas, the mezzanine level is used as a recreational and lounge area for the firemen. The 6-stall apparatus bay utilizes an in-floor heating system as its primary heating source. A drive through bay with a tanker fill station enables the Fire Department to swiftly refill trucks during the course of and after a fire. This new fire station will allow the Axtell Fire Department and Rural Fire Board to more readily meet the future needs of its residents.
