Sampson Construction was awarded the new stand alone facility hospital in a competitive bid in 2001.  Crete Area Medical Center is an integrated facility, with hospital, clinic, and medical physician offices all in one location. The critical access hospital features 25 private patient rooms, trauma area and emergency room services, labor/delivery area with whirlpool and nursery, state-of-the-art physical therapy and rehabilitation center, community conference rooms, a café, advanced privacy and security systems, and emergency helicopter pad.  In July 2010, Sampson completed a 2,900 SF expansion and 4,100 SF renovation.  The project  added a management area, laboratory rooms, and mammogram room.  The renovation included an expansion to the physical therapy, waiting room, new exam rooms, penthouse, and new chiller to accommodate increased mechanical demands.
