Cost efficient, energy conserving features were a priority of the Kearney Armed Forces Reserve Center project. It's this focus that made this facility addition a prime example of 21st century technology. A maintenance building, storage facility, and flexible access roads were included in this project.
The 25,000 SF addition to the existing Kearney Armed Forces Reserve Center was constructed of permanent masonry concrete block with brick veneer, concrete footings, flooring and roofing to match the existing facility. The maintenance building was constructed to be a pre-engineered metal building with two work bays and storage and administration space. Supporting facilities included flexible access roads and parking, rigid sidewalks, and compound area, security fencing and lighting. Physical security measures were incorporated in the design. Cost efficient technologies were incorporated into the design, including energy management control systems and high efficiency motors, lighting, geothermal well and HVAC systems.
