After incorporating environmentally friendly construction elements into other structures on-campus, UNL Parking and Transit Services decided to follow this pattern for the 19th and Vine Parking Garage. The 1,040-stall garage is used primarily by University of Nebraska-Lincoln students and has achieved LEED Silver certification. For energy savings, the parking structure uses a geothermal system to heat and cool the stairwell and passenger waiting area and LED lighting. It includes a geothermal system and a solar powered ventilator.
