Council Bluffs Police Headquarters

After outgrowing its current 39-year-old building, the Council Bluff’s Police Department began a new journey in a new law enforcement center. The 52,000 SF project features two levels, both with an exterior ground entry. The public entrance is on the main level, with features including a grand lobby adjacent to a community room and restrooms.

Beyond the front desk are a secure area, office space, interview rooms, conference rooms and workspace for the police department. A Police Plaza is designed for outdoor dining and an area to enjoy some fresh air. Men and women’s locker rooms were constructed along with a three-stall Sallyport with adjacent storage and dry rooms. An exercise room is available as well as a multipurpose room, work area, fume, drug test and photo rooms. Finally, there is also drug storage, gun room and evidence storage.

With two drives for access, one is designated for public entrances and the other gated for a secure entrance. A second structure located on the site serves as a vehicle building to house Mobile Command, motorcycles, vehicle maintenance bays and three K9 kennels.

The headquarters is visually appealing with a combination of brick, cast stone and metal panels.
