Great Plains Health Expansion

For many years, Sampson Construction has provided contracting and construction management services to Great Plains Health, in North Platte, Nebraska.  Projects have included various renovations as well as major additions to their facilities. In early 2012, Sampson Construction was awarded an $82.4 M three-phased expansion project. Our team completed all three phases of construction while the existing hospital remained in service. The third phase was completed in the summer of 2015.

Phase one included a $4 M  I.T. data center and same-day surgery waiting area on the west side of the building.

Phase two consisted of a $1.4 M, 110,000 SF parking lot expansion. Both phases one and two had to be finished before phase three could begin. The existing front entrance, atrium, same-day surgery waiting area and associated parking spaces on the south side of the campus all had to be vacated and removed prior to the beginning of phase three.

Phase 3 included a $77 M patient tower and central utility plant expansion totaling nearly 220,000 SF. The patient tower is devoted to six floors with decentralized nursing stations and 110 licensed beds (labor and delivery, postpartum, pediatric, medical/surgical, intensive care and behavioral health services patient rooms). Additional features of this phase included expanding waiting areas, a spacious cafeteria, a new main entrance, registration and an education center.
