Syracuse Community Memorial Hospital

The new Syracuse Community Memorial Hospital consists of a 10-bed patient care unit, a surgery suite, central registration and other various departments. Included in the Emergency Department is three exam rooms, one trauma room and an ambulance garage. The Diagnostic Imaging Department includes an x-ray room, a CT room, mammography and DEXA space as well as respiratory rooms. This project also features a laboratory, pharmacy, food services area, a chapel, outpatient and rehabilitation services and a central energy plant. The new surgery suite includes the main operating room, a minor procedure operating room, sterilization rooms, sterile supply as well as pre and post-operation recovery rooms.

The building is a steel structure with architectural precast exterior walls. Metal panels are attached to the exterior face of the precast for added architectural interest, complemented by areas of natural stone. Aluminum windows are used throughout the building and aluminum curtainwalls flank both sides of the main entrance. A variety of flooring was used, including a mixture of carpet, sheet vinyl, sheet rubber, LVT and porcelain and ceramic tile.

Sampson Construction did a great job working with the design firm and the owner to meet the goals we had for the project. I could not be happier with the professionalism and competence that I encountered throughout the entire process. Their expertise and efficiency helped us minimize construction costs as much as possible for the project.
