Lincoln Airport Terminal

The Lincoln Airport terminal expansion project, named LNK NEXT, aims to improve service quality and price efficiency by consolidating functions, while expanding the number of gates and available amenities. The project adds two new gates, and expands food and beverage service available beyond security. The finished project expands the terminal by about 35,000 square feet, but also eliminates duplication of necessary functions, letting the same work occur in less space.

Goals include consolidating airline ticket counters inside the departure area, streamlining customer foot traffic. This added efficiency is enhanced by merging the existing two security checkpoints, and two checked-baggage facilities, into one. On the arrival side, the project also repositions baggage-claim and rental-car counters to simplify passenger flow. On both ends of the trip, the project aims to increase traffic efficiency by eliminating redundancy and eliminating any points of duplication.

This increased efficiency lets the airport dedicate more space to passenger services, and increases comfort. Before the security line, the expanded available space will permit TSA agents to perform more and better prescreening checks. Post-security, in addition to adding two new gates to accommodate increased traffic, the refurbished terminal includes food and beverage service, including the Flyers’ Club. The overall experience will be faster, cleaner, and more efficient for travelers.
