Central High School

Located in beautiful downtown Omaha, the Central High School addition consisted of a masonry and steel structure with three floors and a walkout patio on the roof level. The main level features band, vocal and ensemble areas as well as a black box theater. mechanical and theatrical support areas are provided on the second level, while the third floor includes art rooms, a library and media center and some administrative space. The roof patio includes a paved walkout plaza, skylight and a green roof overlooking the downtown area. Site work consisted of a new bus lane, a limestone and granite legacy walkway feature and retaining wall features to mitigate the large grade changes on the east side.

The addition is linked to the east façade of the Central High School, with the walkout of the existing first floor onto the roof patio. The exterior skin of the building is limestone cut from the same Indiana quarries as the original limestone on the existing school.
