University of Nebraska - Lincoln Veterinary Diagnostic Center

The 69,000 SF two-story building replaces a former 40-year-old facility that had space limitations, poor ventilation and a building design that increased the risk for cross-contamination. As Nebraska’s only accredited veterinary diagnostic lab, the Center develops cutting-edge testing methods; supports food safety, biomedical research and testing; and works directly with local and national public health officials to diagnose animal diseases. The building structure consists of a cast-in-place concrete foundation and structural steel frame with an envelope of brick and stone masonry, curtainwall, metal panels and architectural finish exposed concrete. The building houses seven separate laboratories, to include: Clinical Microbiology, Research, Histology, Grossing, Necropsy, Virology/Serology/Bacteriology and ABSL-3.
