Westview High School

Completed in early 2022, Omaha Public Schools now has a new high school and shared YMCA facility. The 315,000 SF school sits on 72.88 acres of land with a capacity for 1,500 students. Classrooms are designed as studios and serve multiple functions throughout the day. The school design is based around s flexible and adaptive design, giving the ability to change as the education system does. The parking lot accommodates approximately 1,000 vehicles and space for baseball, softball, track and a practice field.

Sitting two-stories tall, the school houses administrative space, a cafeteria, counseling space, instructional areas, media and music, nutrition services, performing arts, skilled and technical science rooms space, special education, student services, visual arts and teacher-planning areas. The joint YMCA facility houses a six-lane indoor pool, fitness center and other amenities. There is space exclusively for the YMCA, exclusive space for the school and a safe shared space.

The expectations were high, and the goals were many, but Sampson worked as a team to complete the project with excellence. They worked with the owner, architect, and oversite team to build a beautiful building that includes large classrooms, collaboration spaces for peer learning, natural light throughout the building, and numerous modern-day features.
