University of Nebraska - Lincoln Massengale Residential Center

The Massengale Residential Center is a new 146,000 SF residence hall on the East Campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, which replaced the aging Burr and Fedde Halls.

Massengale is a four story, two-winged building with 372 beds in both traditional and apartment-style rooms. One wing consists of traditional/pod-style units designed for 238 beds with a mix of double rooms and single rooms. The other wing features apartment-style units with single rooms/studios, two-bedroom units and four-bedroom units containing 134 beds.

An interior courtyard was designed to serve as a hub of activity, providing an open lawn and patio space for recreation. Building amenities include game areas, conference rooms, a multi-purpose area and catering kitchens along with residence center offices, a front desk, a mail room, workroom, storage areas and maintenance shops. The building exterior is brick with a CMU base, similar in tone to the adjacent campus buildings.
