Doane University Fuhrer Field House

In 2014, Fuhrer Field House, a 43 year old facility, received an updated and major expansion that will now be able to host regional college and high school track meets with ease. The Fuhrer Field House renovation, located on the Doane Campus in Crete, was a change that is utilized by all Doane athletic teams and athletes. The track team, for example, is just one of the teams impacted by this renovation, including the largest update of a regulation 200 meter oval indoor track and designated area for long jump and high jump. Located in the interior of the track are four sports courts for recreation.

Other areas renovated include the high performance Mondo sports surface for the arena’s floors; a new lounge and lobby used as a pre-game space; a dedicated area for concessions; 27 feet of built-in trophy cases; a renovated existing weight room; a new corridor that allows access from one end of the arena to the other without disturbing the track; a storage area; reconstructed locker room for the visiting teams and remodeled home team locker rooms with pro-style wood lockers. This project provided additional seating of 684 for a grand total of 1,130 spectator seating.  Additionally, the entire facility received an upgrade to the HVAC and electrical systems.

Sampson Construction completed the entire project two months ahead of the original schedule. Doane College then hosted the GPAC track championship within two months of completion.
