Scheels (Johnstown, CO)

Located in Johnstown, CO, Scheel's now has a 250,000 SF store with a 65-foot ferris wheel, a 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium, wildlife Mountain, Ginna’s Restaurant and an arcade area. Shoppers can find home décor, hunting, fishing, golf and all sports (baseball, basketball, hockey, football, etc.) apparel and equipment. The building is a steel structure with joists and form deck for the second floor and sloped roof structure with joist and girders for the roof. There is a mezzanine level around the perimeter that is steel beams and ¼” plate. The exterior is balloon framed with metal studs with a brick veneer and EIFS at the top of the walls. There is a KEE (Fibertite roof) for the flat roof and a concrete roof tile system for the sloped roof. The project has a skylight and clerestory vertical glazing at the atrium. All of the second-floor glass is SAGE Glass and tints to different levels to control glare and helps with heat gain depending on where the sun is at. The SAGE system changes with the location of the sun.
