Assurity Center

The new headquarters for Assurity Life Insurance Company included a five-story office building and a five-story parking garage on a 12 acre site adjacent to Lincoln’s Antelope Valley project. The office building is certified LEED Gold. The objectives for the project were to create an architecturally interesting structure, flexible spaces to expand and contract as business needs change, use the latest technology, promote health and wellness and be sustainable all while being cost effective. As part of the Antelope Valley Redevelopment Project, Assurity Center qualified for approximately $6 million in tax increment funding (TIF.)                                

The building sits on an auger cast pile foundation system with cast-in-place footings, walls up to grade and the precast structure above grade. The exterior cladding is limestone masonry with a curtain wall glazing system with vertical and horizontal sunscreens. There are multiple roof systems including EPDM at the main roof and four vegetative roofs at the lower elevations that include a leak detection system. One of the many unique features of the building is the use of technology-integrated furniture rather than walled systems.  For example, the interior floor is a raised access floor plenum system with data, electrical and HVAC running underneath.  The interior space features bright colors, flexible floor plans, a cafeteria, ergonomic work spaces and areas designated for casual meetings and dining.
