East High School - Pool Replacement

East High School’s original swimming pool and natatorium was over fifty years old and had only six swim lanes, below standards for competitive swimming. The replacement pool measures 75 by 120 feet, and features a moveable bulkhead. The surrounding natatorium is integrated into the existing high school, but also designed to function as a freestanding facility, including restrooms, locker and shower rooms, offices, and janitorial resources.

The building itself incorporates the campus’s natural slope, with separate entrances for upper-level spectator seating and the pool-level competition floor. The addition preserves the existing entry vestibule and connections to the high school gym wing. As part of the renovation, existing parking, access, and site security have been improved, and existing underground utilities and a campus wind turbine have been relocated to improve the facility for competitors and spectators.
